Encouraging Messages for Our Students

Parents/Families of ESS Students:

Our students are processing the results of the recent election and we know some of them are having a difficult time right now. We know that students who feel supported and confident can better focus on school. To support our students’ mental health and wellness, we’re asking any interested parents, adults to make signs with simple words of encouragement and bring them to drop off on Monday morning (November 14). Representatives from the PTA will tie on signs Monday morning on the fence around the blacktop.

The parents at Takoma Park ES school did something similar for their student body.

1. Please use poster board, full size or cut in half .

2. Provide short,  readable, encouraging messages. Some examples:

  • You are loved!
  • We will protect you.
  • You matter.
  • You are valued.
  • You are safe.
  • Don’t be afraid.

Short messages are easier for youngest readers.

3. Bring your sign on Monday morning and someone from the PTA will help attach the sign to the fence at the blacktop.

Thank you! If you have any questions, let us know.
