Snow Shoveling Success!

Recess is an important part of daily school life, just as important as math and reading, according to pediatricians. Recess is an opportunity for physical activity and a mental break. But when you get a historic snowfall like we did about a week ago, students may not get as much outdoor time as recommended with all that snow and ice covering the blacktop. Thanks to an ESS parent and ESS PTA Wellness Committee sub-committee member for organizing a Snow Shoveling Party on Sunday, January 31 to help remove half the snow from the blacktop. Parents, students, family members, future ESS-ers and even community members without students at the school showed up from 9am to about 1pm to shovel. Others did some shoveling before and after the party. As a result, students were able to get outside the following week. Thanks ESS community!

We had over 20 volunteers show up to shovel.

Even future ESS-ers helped to clear the snow and ice.

This awesome volunteer cleared the path to the crosswalk on Thayer Ave so students could easily walk to school.
